“We are the happiest when we can see the evidence of our progress.” Darren Hardy
Darren Hardy hits the mark for most of us. We like to see evidence of progress but that can be difficult during these “Covid” times.
I recently took a values test and came away with many on my list and others that I want to add. Values . . . well, add value to our lives. They direct our motivation so that we do achieve our dreams and progress each day.
But let me ask you: Do you believe the above quote? I know that I want to see progress in my own life, in the lives of my clients, and in the lives of my family. So, while this may seem like a tall order, I believe we can achieve progress emotionally, mentally, and also professionally. Let me give you a Perfect Day explanation.
Right now, is a perfect time to take a deep dive into some of the things that you have been longing to do at home, your office, or in your personal life. And it’s an even better time to tackle subjects that are meaningful and life-changing. For me that means taking a look at my personal value system.
When it comes to “diving forward,” I’m pressing the pause button for a few moments, so I can stop, regroup, and consider the things that pull together a Perfect Day for me.
People, who know me, know I like a challenge, and they also know that I also can head off in one direction only to discover that the road unfolding before me is not the one I need to travel. Mistake? Not necessarily so.
Confused? Don’t be. Our world is literally changing the way it’s structured, especially the way we think and work and as we spend more time at home—whether we are working or parenting or being the best we can be to those around us. Our values keep us grounded and balanced in a tilted world!
Before Covid, you probably pushed to reach certain goals and dreams that you sincerely believed defined who you are or who you want to become. We all did. But your view of the future probably has altered some while many other things have remained the same.
Truth holds. Example: Planning for retirement, saving for the future, having a budget in place brings the right kind of structure to your life. Don’t abandon these. Be kind to others, listen, put your Perfect Day plan into place before 11 am each day.
Basic 411/Perfect Day refresher: Work on your core values, look for ways that you can experience life in a fresh way, contribute to the world around you through random acts of kindness, and then work to keep your finances in order, especially during this time of shift and staying put. Make it a Perfect Day attitude works(!) regardless of your circumstances.
Fight against the stress of our world by changing your focus. You have heard me say it before and I’ll say it again: turn the noise off and listen for the quiet around you. Center on spiritual good and breath deep.
Now back to the subject of values before I close this newsletter. John Maxwell writes, “Your core values are deeply held beliefs that authentically describe your soul.” Values are really like our DNA. They reveal who we are, where we are going, why we want to go there, and how we stay on track.
If you have a strong value system, you can pretty much work through any problem with success and a feeling of achievement. I’m going to identify a value a month to hone and would encourage you to do the same.
This month I have chosen the word: Authentically. I want to be authentic in all that do. Transparency seems to go along with this, so being totally authentic and transparent am I caring, grateful, effective, and compassionate? Do I listen to others, or do I rush by. Good question? Am I transparent to answer?
Google values and also look up Darren Hardy’s book: The Compound Effect. And if you are struggling to create your list of values or if you just need a Covid financial checkup so you can go bravely into the final quarter of 2020: set up a free 15-minute consult with me!
Finally: NOT initially intended as an advertisement for Alphavest ‘s actively managed, low fee (yes, it is!) killer 410k platform, but, alas, I’m focused on AUTHENTICITY for August. 👊🏼 CHECK IT OUT, maybe, just maybe you’ll achieve a 411 in the financial category today!
