As I write this, the winds are howling outside my tent, and we are hunkered down at Everest Camp 3. I have time to think. Thoughts are about so many of you and always about my family and their love for me and their unwavering support. I also talk with a climbing mate—just to pass the time. The winds have changed the game! Ten steps at this altitude are difficult enough but add wind like we have now, and you have added an extreme challenge that we cannot tackle.

Remember how I always say, “Mountains lie.” We look outside our tents and think, “Can we go forward? Should we try?” The answer is “No.” The beauty of the mountain calls us forward, but wisdom shouts, “Stay put!” The skies will clear, the wind will lessen, and then we can go on to Camp 4 and then the summit of Mt. Everest.

Timing is everything in life—whether you are in a place of difficulty or a place of leisure. Don’t rush, but don’t lag behind. Perfect Day thought: There are times in life when you must wait, and that’s okay. Waiting well always leads to success. Patience pays great dividends! We are doing that right now.

Our new ETA on the summit is early on May 23. I’ll keep you posted when I can. I have limited access (right now) to view your comments but when I do see them, I’m encouraged and grateful. I’m also grateful for your continued prayers. Please take the #takethehealthpledge and stay safe! #everydayeverest#everest2021

If I can climb Mt. Everest in support of @hollingscancercenter and the fight against cancer, you can do what is needed to take care of yourself and summit the mountains in your life!

PLEASE consider donating to this life-giving effort! You can track my climb to the top of Mt. Everest on www.share.garmin.com! I’ll keep you updated as we push on to the top of Mt. Everest.
